Instructor Rani Sharma is a trained Kathak dancer. She studied under Pradeep Shankar who was a student of Pt. Birju Maharaj. She has also studied Bharatanatyam under the guidance of Krishna Persad, and film and semi-classical dance under the guidance of Sat and Mundira Balkaran Singh.

She has taught her daughter, Instructor Shivanie Sharma, dance from the age of 5. Instructor Shivanie specializes in Bharatanatyam, Bollywood and Folk dance. She has furthered her Bharatanatyam training under the guidance of Gayatri Joshi from India. She is also trained in Carnatic Music under the guidance of Kareeshma Santhosh from Tamil Nadu.

The Raja Rani Laxmi Kala Sangam Institute of dance was founded by Instructor Rani Sharma in New York in 1998. The Raja Rani dance school then opened in Kissimmee Florida in 2008.
